Studying at the Institute

The Institute offers a broad range of courses on general and specialized topics in public international law, many of which are taught in English. Some classes are taught by legal practitioners. Innovative and learner-centred teaching methodologies include the Refugee Law Clinic, which allows students to gain first hand insights into the Austrian asylum system and international refugee law, visit courts, asylum authorities and detention facilities and the European Human Rights Moot Court Competition. Members of the Institute frequently teach at national and international institutions, including Vienna's Diplomatic Academy and the European Master's Degrees on Human Rights and Democratization in Venice and Sarajevo.  The Institute assists students who want to follow an international legal career. Additionally, the European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy offers internship opportunities for interested students. For more information on courses offered in the current term please visit uni-graz-online and Moodle. Diploma theses in international and the law of international organizations are supervised by ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerd Oberleitner, Assoc.-Prof. Dr Yvonne Karimi-Schmidt, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Helmut Tichy und Priv.-Doz. Dr. Ursula Werther-Pietsch.
